The USDA Dietary Guidelines and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend water, fat-free and low-fat milk, and 100% juice be the beverage of choice among youth.   However, soft drinks account for nearly 20% of total beverages consumed among youth, which can impact both diet quality and total calorie intake.
